Working Mama Spotlight on Meghan Harrison

Where are you from: Indianapolis, IN

Where do you live now: Carmel, IN

Education: BA. English, Secondary Ed Teaching License,  wish I could say MA for Ed, but but I'm two classes short, and with my current businesses growth, I most likely won't complete them.

Career : Photography - professionally 7 years, Real Estate 3 years

Family life : Married 8 years, together 11. Two boys, 5&4, no pets!

Favorite Indy Eats:  Bravo! and Sullivan's

Favorite family fun spot/activity: In town - probably something easy like the neighborhood pool! The boys enjoy game places like Great Times, Main Event, etc.

Favorite "me-time" activity: massages, getting my nails done. I love to read, but have a hard time sitting still to read much these days. Always so much to do, by the time I relax, I like to just watch some TV - currently watching Mad Men, never watched while it aired.

What are you reading right now? If I'm being completely honest, the blogs I check in on are moms like me, or those who've struggled and I was taken in with their story, or they've started as a working mom like me and have gone big. Examples: - was funny in early years, I've gotten away from it the last year though. Sad: - written by a mom who lost her 3yo son to cancer. I found the blog maybe 5 years ago, soon after the loss and her rawness drew me in. Funny: Inspiring: Raechel Myers - original blog was Finding My Feet, but I can't find that online. Found her maybe 8 years ago, she now is the creator of She Reads Truth.

Best Mom Moment: Any day where my kids are alive and I've not lost my cool and spent some quality time.

Career Highlight(s): (at least) Doubling my businesses sales the last 3 years in a row.

What you love about being a Hoosier? Good, mostly friendly people, pretty seasons, familiar areas, IU to the south.

As a child, what did you want to be when you grow up? Teacher, then dolphin trainer, then author or magazine editor.

Where you want to be in 10 years? Doing what I am now with happy and healthy kids and hubby (& hopefully my extended fam), and still growing and profitable.

My biggest mistake: How could I choose? 🙂 I'll have to think on that.. I'm a firm believer I'm doing the best I can at any given time, and everything happens for some reason. I wouldn't change anything in my life.

Career/Parenting advice you would like to share with other working mamas: Stay consistent. It takes grit. Just keep going. You can't see what your growing sometimes until you realize how far you've come. Make goals for yourself. TRACK YOUR SUCCESS.
