Working Mama Spotlight on Desta Ntamere

Name: Desta Ntamere

Where are you from: Westport, IN (a very small town in southeastern Indiana)

Where do you live now: Indianapolis

Education: I graduated from Indiana State University with a Bachelor's of Science in Interior Design

Career: I am an Interior Designer. I have my own company now, but have been in the industry for 15 years. I enjoy helping people find peace and beauty in their home!

Family life: I am a married momma of 3 boys. They are 14, 9, and 5. The oldest started high school this year, and the youngest started Kindergarten!! That was a lot for my momma heart to handle!

Favorite Indy Eats: I love supporting local businesses. We live near Ft. Ben, so some of my favorites are Jockamo's, Porter Books & Bread, and Fitzgerald's Lunch House.

Favorite family fun spot/activity: It's hard to find activities that all the boys enjoy since their ages are so spread out. But we all love super hero movies, and are big Avengers fans!

Favorite "me-time" activity: Reading

What are you reading right now? All the Light We Cannot See, Business Boutique by Christy Wright, and Parenting Teens with Love & Logic.

Career Highlight(s): I've done several things in my career, but I think best part is being able to be a "mompreneur." I can still do what I love and be creative, while being home with kids on school breaks and being here when they get off the bus.

As a child, what did you want to be when you grow up? A homicide detective (until I discovered I faint at the sight of blood!) a fashion designer, an architect, and then finally landed on interior designer.

Where you want to be in 10 years? Still being a mompreneur with bigger/more/different businesses going with my husband. Maybe a coffee shop/bookstore/art gallery/clothing boutique, maybe real estate, maybe flipping houses, maybe all of the above!

Career/Parenting advice you would like to share with other working mamas: Give yourself grace! Being a mom is SO hard, being a working mom is SO hard! Take care of yourself, physically and mentally, so you have more to give to those who need you.
